The Rye Society of Artists Summer Exhibition is an annual show now in its 59th year, which takes place in the Boys Club, Mermaid Street, Rye. East Sussex The Society is made up of professional painters, printmakers, ceramicists, sculptors and photographers. The standard of work is high and we include two Royal Academicians amongst our membership. This year’s show will include a memorial exhibition to author and cartoonist John Ryan, a member for many years, who died in 2009 Founded in the year of the Festival of Britain the Rye Society has always been made up of locally based artists many of whom have national and international reputations. The membership reflects the connection that both Rye and Hastings have with the arts. The Summer Show is open seven days a week 10.30 to 5.30, there is an entrance fee of 50p, 20p for concessions children free
